Artistic

Statement

As an artist, my body of work focuses on several different genres. I do this because I have an interest in many different topics, and I believe that each individual topic needs to be represented in an original way. I am an artist that likes to express my emotions within the art I create, depending on what inspires me in that moment. Overall, my work is widespread but focused on catching the eye, allowing for interpretation and creating conversation.

Topics are presented in my art in a variety of ways. I do not like to limit my use of materials or forms of art at this point, but often, the symbols presented within my work represents a personal aspiration or an overall societal issue. To create conversation or to invite interpretation, the topic of the piece is often not stated, but instead represented with a corresponding object or visual that is associated with said topic.

I became involved with art as a way to express things going on in my life. I grew up spending some time in the hospital due to a medical issue, and through that, I was able to find beauty in art which was exhibited in hospital rooms, corridors, and waiting rooms. This nearby art created a more healing environment for the hospital patients. That showed me how art can express a feeling, yet be open to multiple interpretations. When people look at my art I would like it to have the same lasting effect.

My work, to me, is an outlet. This is influenced by the feeling which art creates. Therefore, I would like my art to not only create a feeling, but also create conversation. My work is up for interpretation as well, as the broad topics my art focuses on are not directly stated.
